- India's men's freestyle and women's wrestling teams won the team titles at the 2026 U23 Asian Championships in Da Nang, Vietnam, with the men's freestyle team's 9 medals being India's highest-ever haul at the event.
- President Droupadi Murmu presented the 'President of India's Police Colour' to the Sikkim Police at Gangtok on 28 May 2026, making Sikkim the 15th State and third in the North-East to receive it.

- On 27 May 2026 the CCEA approved SARTHAK-PDS, an umbrella scheme merging foodgrain-movement/FPS-dealer-margin assistance and SMART PDS, with a Central outlay of ₹25,530 crore up to 31 March 2031.
- The Third Advance Estimates for 2025-26, released on 27 May 2026, put India's foodgrain production at a record 376.563 million tonnes, about 18.8 million tonnes (5.3%) above 2024-25.
- Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav announced on 27 May 2026 that the main International Day of Yoga 2026 event will be held in Kolkata on 21 June, with the theme 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing'.

- On 26 May 2026 the Government of India constituted a High-Level Committee, chaired by Justice (Retd) Prakash Prabhakar Navlekar, to study demographic changes caused by illegal immigration and other abnormal reasons.
- In a joint operation on 25–26 May 2026, the Indian Coast Guard and ATS Gujarat seized about 115 kg of cocaine, valued at about ₹1,150 crore, off the Mundra coast in Gujarat.
- On 26 May 2026 the Union Government notified the National Sports Governance (National Sports Board) Rules, 2026 and the National Sports Governance (National Sports Tribunal) Rules, 2026 under the National Sports Governance Act, 2025.
