The Union Health Ministry released the National Health Accounts (NHA) estimates for 2022-23, the tenth such report, prepared by the NHA Technical Secretariat at the National Health Systems Resource Centre using the System of Health Accounts 2011 framework. Between 2013-14 and 2022-23, Government Health Expenditure (GHE) rose from ₹1.30 lakh crore to ₹3.85 lakh crore and from 1.15% to 1.43% of GDP (1.48% on the new GDP series). GHE's share in total health expenditure rose from 28.6% to 43.7%, while out-of-pocket expenditure fell from 64.2% to 43.4%. Per-capita GHE rose from ₹1,042 to ₹2,786, and social security expenditure on health rose from 6% to 9.9%.
