The Ministry of Ayush held an online review and consultative meeting on 25–26 May 2026 on developing WHO International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) and National Health Intervention Codes (NHIC) for Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani.

Summary

The Ministry of Ayush organised a high-level review meeting and consultations, online, on 25–26 May 2026 on developing the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) and National Health Intervention Codes (NHIC) for the Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani (ASU) systems. The work follows an MoU and Donor Agreement between the Ministry of Ayush and the World Health Organization, and aims to integrate traditional medicine interventions into WHO's ICHI framework through a globally standardised coding vocabulary. This is meant to enable cross-border data exchange, strengthen clinical research and support interoperability, including insurance integration. Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha chaired the meeting.
