- On 5 May 2026 the CCEA approved a ₹1,570 crore Ship Repair Facility at Vadinar, Gujarat, to be jointly built by Deendayal Port Authority and Cochin Shipyard Limited, enabling repair of vessels up to 300 m long in India.

- The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) won 102 of Kerala's 140 Assembly seats in results declared on 4 May 2026, ending 10 years of Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule, while the BJP won three seats.
- Actor C. Joseph Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single largest party in Tamil Nadu on 4 May 2026 with 108 of 234 seats on its debut, ahead of the DMK's 59 and the AIADMK's 47, but fell 10 short of the majority mark of 118.
- The BJP-led NDA won 102 of Assam's 126 Assembly seats in results declared on 4 May 2026 to retain power for a third straight term, with the BJP alone winning 82, 18 more than the majority mark of 64.
