Three railway multitracking projects costing about ₹23,437 crore were approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by PM Narendra Modi on 5 May 2026: the 3rd and 4th lines on Nagda–Mathura, Guntakal–Wadi and Burhwal–Sitapur. Covering 19 districts in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, they will add about 901 km to the Indian Railways network, improve connectivity for about 4,161 villages with roughly 83 lakh people, and be completed by 2030–31. The projects are planned under the PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan and will improve access to places such as Mahakaleshwar, Ranthambore, Kuno and Keoladeo National Parks, Mathura, Vrindavan and Naimisharanya.
