- The National Biodiversity Authority released ₹15.52 crore in Access and Benefit Sharing proceeds from Pioneer Overseas Corporation's mustard hybrids on 13 August 2026, to be shared among 26 State Biodiversity Boards and 3 UT Biodiversity Councils by mustard cultivation area.

- On World Lion Day, 10 August 2026, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said India's Asiatic lion population rose from 523 in 2015 to 891 in 2025, with the lion range expanding to nearly 35,000 sq km.
- Scientists including researchers from ARIES, Nainital, detected an unusually high ozone concentration in the stratosphere over the North Bay of Bengal, the Science Ministry said on 10 August 2026.
