Kerala's EcoSense scholarship reaches about 46,000 students for waste-management action

Kerala's Student Green Brigade Scholarship – EcoSense, run by the State's Local Self Government Department with the General Education Department under Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban 2.0, rewards school students for practical waste-management work. This year 45,880 students across 986 local bodies are getting scholarships, out of around five lakh students from nearly 9,000 schools who took part. Each selected student receives ₹1,500 and a certificate; up to 50 students are chosen per gram panchayat, 75 per municipality and 100 per corporation. Activities included source segregation, composting, visits to Material Collection and Resource Recovery Facilities, and Haritha Sabhas (Green Assemblies) in schools.
