• The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved on 12 December 2025 the conduct of the Census of India 2027 at a cost of ₹11,718.24 crore, the country's first Census by digital means.
• The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved on 12 December 2025 the CoalSETU policy, creating a new window in the Non-Regulated Sector linkage auction policy so that coal linkages can be auctioned for any industrial use and export.
• Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the second phase of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam in Chennai on 12 December 2025, adding about 16.94 lakh women to the scheme that pays ₹1,000 a month to women heads of families.
