Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Odisha Watermanship and Lifeguard Institute (OSWALI) at Ramchandi near Konark, Puri district, on 12 December 2025, a ₹12-crore national-level centre for water rescue training.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Odisha Watermanship and Lifeguard Institute (OSWALI) at Ramchandi near Konark in Puri district on 12 December 2025. OSWALI, built at a cost of ₹12 crore, will train fire services personnel from across the country, Central Armed Police Forces, NDRF, police, home guards and disaster volunteers in water rescue and lifesaving. Majhi said it is the first such institute in the country outside the Navy. He also laid the foundation stone of a scuba complex, and an MoU was signed between Odisha Tourism, Odisha Fire and Emergency Services and the National Institute of Water Sports, Goa.
