On 11 May 2026 the 5th Informal Group of Ministers on West Asia, chaired by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, was told India has 60 days of crude oil and natural gas and 45 days of LPG, and fertiliser stocks of 199.65 LMT against a Kharif 2026 need of 390.54 LMT.

On 5 May 2026 the Union Cabinet approved the Mission for Cotton Productivity with an outlay of ₹5,659.22 crore for 2026–27 to 2030–31, aligned with the '5F' vision, to raise cotton yields and quality and make India self-sufficient in cotton.

On 5 May 2026 the CCEA approved a Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of ₹365 per quintal for sugarcane for sugar season 2026–27 at a basic recovery rate of 10.25%, 2.81% higher than the current season.
Centre approves MSP procurement of sunflower in Karnataka and raises gram procurement limit in Maharashtra
On 5 May 2026 Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved procurement of 9,023 tonnes of sunflower at MSP in Karnataka for Rabi 2026 and raised Maharashtra's gram procurement limit for Rabi 2025-26 to 8,19,882 tonnes, together giving MSP support of over ₹4,886 crore.
