Six new urea plants since 2014 add 76.2 LMT capacity; urea output hit record 314.07 LMT in 2023-24

Two more high-capacity urea plants with combined annual capacity of 25.4 LMT are set to begin production shortly. Domestic urea production rose from 225 LMT in 2014-15 to an all-time high of 314.07 LMT in 2023-24. Phosphatic and potassic (P&K) fertiliser manufacturing reached a record 211.22 LMT in 2024-25, up from 159.54 LMT in 2014-15.
