VB–G RAM G Act to commence on 1 July 2026; MGNREGS to continue till then

On 23 May 2026 the Rural Development Ministry reviewed States' preparedness for the VB–G RAM G Act, 2025, which commences on 1 July 2026, and approved over 45 crore persondays of MGNREGS labour budget for June 2026.

The VB–G RAM G Act, 2025 will commence on 1 July 2026, and Mahatma Gandhi NREGS will continue smoothly until then, the Ministry of Rural Development said after a review meeting on 23 May 2026 chaired by Rural Development Secretary Rohit Kansal. A labour budget of over 45 crore persondays has been approved for June 2026, and mother sanctions of ₹26,971 crore have been issued under MGNREGS. States were asked to notify their State VB–G RAM G Schemes, frame State Rules, integrate with DBT-SPARSH and SNA-SPARSH, and prepare a shelf of works on the Yuktdhara portal approved by Gram Sabhas.
