- A PIB backgrounder on 23 April 2026 said India is the 10th largest insurance market by premium volume (Swiss Re), the FDI limit in insurance has been raised to 100% under the Sabka Bima, Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025, and IRDAI is working towards 'Insurance for All by 2047'.
- Phase I of the West Bengal Assembly election was held on 23 April 2026 in 152 constituencies, with 1,478 candidates, 3.60 crore electors and 44,376 polling stations; bye-elections were held the same day in Umreth (Gujarat) and Baramati and Rahuri (Maharashtra).
- Tamil Nadu voted in a single phase for all 234 Assembly constituencies on 23 April 2026, with 4,023 candidates and 75,064 polling stations; ECI's statistical report puts the final state polling percentage at 86.03%, above the previous highest of 78.29% recorded in 2011.

- Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav announced on 22 April 2026 that Shekha Jheel Bird Sanctuary in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, has been designated a Ramsar site, taking India's total to 99 and Uttar Pradesh's to 12.
- MeitY announced on 22 April 2026 the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026, framed under Section 19 of the PROG Act, 2025, which come into force on 1 May 2026 and set up the Online Gaming Authority of India.
- The Indian Air Force activated the Emergency Landing Facility on the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh on 22 April 2026, by day and night, with Jaguar, Mirage-2000, Su-30MKI, C-295 and AN-32 aircraft and a Mi-17 V5 helicopter.
- Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on 22 April 2026 approved central procurement of moong, urad, groundnut, sunflower and mustard in Odisha, with a total MSP value exceeding ₹1,428.31 crore.
- The Ministry of Corporate Affairs on 22 April 2026 expanded the eligibility of the pilot phase of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) to final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students aged 18–25, who must submit a No Objection Certificate from their institution.

- The Atal Pension Yojana, administered by PFRDA, surpassed 9 crore total gross enrolments on 21 April 2026, after a record 1.35 crore enrolments in FY 2025–26.
- Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar inaugurated Phase II of the International Election Visitors' Programme 2026 at IIIDEM, New Delhi, on 21 April 2026, with 34 delegates from 17 countries.
