EU includes India in revised draft list for continued aquaculture exports from September 2026

On 12 May 2026 the European Union included India in its revised draft list of countries allowed to keep exporting aquaculture products to the EU from September 2026, reversing an omission in Regulation (EU) 2024/2598.

Summary

The European Union included India in a revised draft list, published on 12 May 2026, of third countries allowed to continue exporting aquaculture products to the EU from September 2026, the Commerce Ministry said on 14 May. India had been left out of Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2598 of 4 October 2024; the new list covers countries complying with Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/905, which bars antimicrobials for growth promotion and antimicrobials reserved for human treatment in food animals. The EU was India's third-largest seafood export market in 2025-26, with 18.94% of export value (US$1.593 billion), and exports to it rose 41.45% in value. The ministry credited MPEDA, the Export Inspection Council and the National Residue Control Programme.
