On 12 November 2024, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj said the Union Government has released Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV FC) grants for rural local bodies in Kerala and Meghalaya. Kerala received the 2nd instalment of Untied Grants for 2024-25, ₹266.80 crore, for all eligible 14 District Panchayats, 152 Block Panchayats and 941 Gram Panchayats. Meghalaya received the 1st instalment of Untied Grants of 2021-22, ₹27.00 crore. Untied Grants can be used for location-specific needs across the 29 subjects in the Eleventh Schedule of the Constitution, except salaries and establishment costs.
