Goa and Maharashtra receive over ₹592 crore in XV Finance Commission grants for panchayats

On 27 March 2026 the Centre said it had released over ₹592 crore of Fifteenth Finance Commission untied and tied grants to rural local bodies in Goa and Maharashtra.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj said on 27 March 2026 that the Union Government had released over ₹592 crore of Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV FC) grants in FY 2025–26 to Panchayati Raj Institutions in Goa and Maharashtra. For Maharashtra this included withheld portions of untied grants for 2024–25 (₹79.82 crore and ₹221.82 crore) and tied grants for 2023–24 (₹159.32 crore and ₹118.69 crore). Goa received ₹12.40 crore as the first instalment of untied grants for 2024–25 covering two district panchayats and all 191 eligible gram panchayats.
