Over ₹223 crore of XV Finance Commission grants released for Assam's rural local bodies

The Union Government released over ₹223 crore of Fifteenth Finance Commission (XV FC) grants for Rural Local Bodies in Assam, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj said on 14 November 2025.

Summary

The Assam release comprises the second instalment of Untied Grants for 2024–25 worth ₹219.24 crore for all eligible 27 District Panchayats, 182 Block Panchayats and 2,192 Gram Panchayats, plus ₹4.698 crore of a withheld portion of the first instalment for 26 additionally eligible Block Panchayats. Untied Grants can be used for location-specific needs under the 29 subjects in the Eleventh Schedule of the Constitution, except salaries and establishment costs. Grants are recommended by the Ministries of Panchayati Raj and Jal Shakti and released by the Finance Ministry in two instalments a year.
