It will cut the distance from about 183.48 km to 104.898 km and travel time from 4–5 hours to about 1–1.5 hours, passing through Dahanu, Vikramgad, Jawhar and Mokhada talukas in Palghar and Trimbakeshwar and Igatpuri in Nashik. The CMO noted that Vadhavan Port is part of the Centre's Sagarmala initiative.
