TDB backs Hyderabad's Helix Cell Therapeutics for dual-target CAR-T therapy against multiple myeloma

The Technology Development Board (TDB) of the Department of Science & Technology has signed an agreement with Helix Cell Therapeutics Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad, Telangana, the ministry said on 14 May 2026. The project will develop and run a Phase I clinical trial of a novel dual-targeting CAR-T cell therapy for multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer, that targets both the BCMA and CD19 markers. It is under the Indo-Singapore collaborative framework with Biocell Innovations, Singapore. CAR-T therapy genetically engineers a patient's own T lymphocytes to find and destroy cancer cells.
