Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh commissioned Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Samudra Pratap in Goa on 5 January 2026. Samudra Pratap, meaning 'Majesty of the Seas', is the first of two pollution control vessels built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), India's first indigenously designed pollution control vessel with over 60% indigenous content, and the largest ship in the ICG fleet. The ship displaces 4,170 tons, is 114.5 metres long, can exceed 22 knots and, in a first for a frontline ICG ship, has two women officers. The ship will be based at Kochi under the Commander, Coast Guard Region (West).
