Ananthasayanam Ayyangar in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan on his birth anniversary on 4 February 2026, joined by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh. Ayyangar, a freedom fighter, was a member of the Central Legislative Assembly, the Constituent Assembly, the Provisional Parliament and the first three Lok Sabhas. He was the first Lok Sabha's Deputy Speaker in 1952. After Speaker G.V. Mavalankar's sudden death, he was unanimously elected to preside over the Lok Sabha on 8 March 1956, and in 1957 he was elected Speaker of the Second Lok Sabha. He resigned from the Third Lok Sabha to become Governor of Bihar, and died on 19 March 1978.
