NITI Aayog held a stakeholder consultation in New Delhi on 10 July 2026 on rolling out the SHANTI Act, 2025, covering draft rules, FDI provisions, finance, insurance and manufacturing.

Summary

NITI Aayog convened a Stakeholder Consultation on Implementation of the SHANTI Act, 2025 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, on 10 July 2026, chaired by NITI Aayog Member Prof. Abhay Karandikar. Discussions were organised around three pillars: the legislative and regulatory framework (draft rules, regulations and FDI provisions); finance, insurance and public perception; and manufacturing, operations and capacity building. Officials from the Power Ministry, CEA, NTPC, DAE and AERB took part. Background: the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Act, 2025 received Presidential assent on 20 December 2025 as Act No. 39 of 2025; it enables limited private participation in nuclear energy and gives statutory recognition to the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, supporting the target of 100 GW nuclear capacity by 2047.
