Non-FASTag users to pay 1.25 times toll via UPI, double in cash, from 15 November 2025
On 4 October 2025, the Road Transport Ministry notified that from 15 November 2025, vehicles without a valid FASTag will pay twice the toll in cash but only 1.25 times if they pay by UPI.

On 4 October 2025, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said it had amended the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, through the Third Amendment Rules, 2025, effective 15 November 2025. Vehicles entering a National Highway fee plaza without a valid, working FASTag will pay twice the user fee if they pay in cash, but only 1.25 times if they pay through UPI. For example, a ₹100 FASTag fee becomes ₹200 in cash or ₹125 by UPI. The Ministry said the change aims to encourage digital payments, end cash transactions and reduce congestion at toll plazas.
