Maharashtra Cabinet approves ₹2,599 crore Deharji project cost, Janai-Shirsai pipelines

The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on 11 February 2025 approved a revised cost of ₹2,599.15 crore for the Deharji Medium Irrigation Project in Vikramgad taluka of Palghar district, with the MMRDA bearing the escalated cost; 69.42 million cubic metres of its water will be reserved for drinking water in the Vasai-Virar area. It approved about ₹438 crore to convert the open canals of the Janai-Shirsai Lift Irrigation Scheme in Pune district (Daund, Baramati and Purandar talukas) into a closed pipe distribution system. It also amended the Maharashtra Disaster Management Authority Rules, 2019, making the Deputy Chief Minister an ex-officio member with the Chief Minister as chairperson.
