Kavach 4.0 commissioned on Mathura–Kota section of Delhi–Mumbai route

On 30 July 2025, Indian Railways announced that it had commissioned the indigenous train protection system Kavach 4.0 on the Mathura–Kota section of the high-density Delhi–Mumbai route.

Indian Railways commissioned the indigenous automatic train protection system Kavach 4.0 on the Mathura–Kota section of the high-density Delhi–Mumbai route, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on 30 July 2025. Kavach helps loco pilots control train speed through automatic brake application and shows signal information inside the cab, even in fog. Designed to Safety Integrity Level 4 (SIL 4), the highest level, Kavach was developed from 2015, installed first on South Central Railway and given its first operational certificate in 2018. RFID tags are placed every 1 km on the track and at every signal. The Railways plans to commission Kavach 4.0 on routes across the country within six years.
