Indian Railways commissioned the indigenous automatic train protection system Kavach 4.0 on the 96-km Bajwa (Vadodara)–Ahmedabad section, Gujarat's first, Railways said on 30 December 2025.

Kavach 4.0, Indian Railways' indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection system, has been commissioned on the 96-km Bajwa (Vadodara)–Ahmedabad section, the first in Gujarat, the Ministry of Railways said on 30 December 2025. The project covers 17 stations with 23 towers, 20 Kavach buildings or huts, 192 km of optical fibre cable and 2,872 RFID tags, and the first Kavach-enabled train on the route was the Sankalp Fast Passenger. Kavach, certified to Safety Integrity Level-4, now covers more than 2,200 route km and guards against Signal Passed at Danger, overspeeding and head-on and rear-end collisions.
