INST Mohali develops near-infrared light-driven nanobots for targeted breast cancer therapy
Scientists at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Mohali, have developed near-infrared light-driven nanobots for targeted breast cancer therapy, the Science Ministry said on 5 August 2026.
Summary
Scientists at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali, an autonomous institute of the Department of Science and Technology, have developed light-driven multifunctional nanobots for targeted breast cancer therapy, the Science Ministry said on 5 August 2026. The upconversion nanoparticle-based nanobots convert near-infrared (NIR) light into heat, move directionally under NIR light and generate reactive oxygen species, enabling localised photothermal and photodynamic therapy. The research was published in the journal ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.
