The first round of India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations concluded in New Delhi on 9 May 2025, after talks from 5 to 9 May covering trade in goods and services, trade facilitation and economic cooperation. The FTA was launched on 16 March 2025 by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and New Zealand's Minister for Trade and Investment Todd McClay, during the visit of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. Bilateral merchandise trade reached USD 1.3 billion in 2024–25, up 48.6% over the previous year. Both sides aim to conclude the FTA this year; the next round was set for July 2025.
