I4C and Reserve Bank Innovation Hub sign MoU for AI-driven detection of mule accounts

On 12 May 2026 the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) of MHA and the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) signed an MoU to feed I4C's Suspect Registry data into AI-driven fraud detection to catch mule accounts.

The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) signed an MoU on 12 May 2026 to fight cyber-enabled financial fraud and mule accounts. Under the MoU, mule-account intelligence and suspect identifiers from I4C's Suspect Registry will feed RBIH's AI-driven fraud detection systems, with cooperation on risk-intelligence sharing, analytics and operational coordination. Home Minister Amit Shah said mule accounts are big hurdles in curbing cyber crime and that the move would swiftly detect and cull hidden mule accounts. The MoU was signed in the presence of RBI Deputy Governor Rohit Jain.
