Government reconstitutes Central Board of Film Certification with 18 members

On 16 September 2026, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting notified the reconstitution of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with 18 members, for three years or until further orders.

The CBFC was reconstituted under Section 3(1) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, read with Rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024. The 18 members include Manoj Joshi, Ricky Kej, Priyadarshan, Suniel Shetty, Hansraj Hans, Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Pallavi Joshi and Waman Kendre. The reconstitution took effect immediately.
