775 Fast Track Special Courts functional; scheme extended to 30 September 2026
The Law Ministry told Parliament on 25 July 2026 that 775 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs), including 398 exclusive POCSO courts, were functional in 29 States/UTs as of 30 April 2026, and the FTSC scheme has been temporarily extended up to 30 September 2026.
Summary
The Centrally Sponsored Scheme for FTSCs, including exclusive POCSO (e-POCSO) courts, was launched in October 2019 for speedy trial of rape cases and offences under the POCSO Act, 2012. It has been extended twice, the last extension being valid till 31 March 2026 for 790 FTSCs, and has now been temporarily extended to 30 September 2026. In 2025, FTSCs registered 1,43,936 cases and disposed of 66,500.
