On 30 October 2024, the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) issued an office memorandum after the Union Cabinet approved an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief at 3% for central government employees and pensioners, due from 1 July 2024. Central government pensioners and family pensioners become entitled to Dearness Relief at 53% of basic pension or family pension, up from 50%, with effect from 1 July 2024.
