Summary

A 12.5-tonne consignment of Dashehari and Langra mangoes exported from Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, reached Dubai on 17 July 2026 in a 40-foot reefer container by sea, using the sea-route export protocol developed by ICAR–Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (ICAR-CISH), Lucknow, and APEDA. The mangoes, harvested on 22 June 2026 and treated with ICAR-CISH's METWASH for longer shelf life, took 25 days from harvest to market because of Western Disturbance-related delays, yet nearly 90% arrived in good marketable condition. The Ministry of Agriculture called it the first successful commercial sea shipment of Dashehari and Langra mangoes from Uttar Pradesh to Dubai with such a 25-day transit, and said growers earned about ₹15–20 per kg more than through conventional channels.
