Hardeep Singh Puri launches ₹23,731-crore GOBARdhan scheme for compressed biogas
On 1 October 2026 Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched GOBARdhan, a ₹23,731-crore Central Sector Scheme (FY 2026-27 to 2035-36) to raise India's compressed biogas (CBG) output nearly ten-fold to about 5 MMSCMD.

Cabinet approves Green Energy Corridor Phase-III with 50 GWh battery storage; outlay ₹1,86,405 crore
On 30 September 2026 the Union Cabinet approved Green Energy Corridor Phase-III to strengthen intra-state transmission for evacuating up to 135 GW of renewable energy, plus 50 GWh of battery storage, with an outlay of ₹1,86,405 crore by FY 2032-33.

The Ministry of Power notified new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) norms for passenger vehicles on 30 September 2026, effective 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2032, tightening the fuel-consumption benchmark by about 16.7%.
