The project will be built in Build-Operate-Transfer (Toll) mode at a capital cost of Rs 8,970.20 crore. It includes a 4.9 km Emergency Landing Facility in the Tezpur bypass, planned with the Indian Air Force, five major bypasses and an elephant underpass. It is expected to double average travel speeds and halve travel time, decongesting NH-27 south of the Brahmaputra.
