Bihar Cabinet approves Bihar Green Hydrogen Policy, 2026
On 30 September 2026 the Bihar Cabinet, led by CM Samrat Choudhary, approved the draft Bihar Green Hydrogen Policy, 2026 to promote renewable energy, reduce dependence on imported natural gas and cut carbon emissions.

The policy aims to attract private investment into green hydrogen and create jobs, in line with the National Green Hydrogen Mission launched by the Centre in 2023. The Hindu reported that it seeks investment of about ₹16,000 crore and around 12,000 jobs, with the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) as nodal agency. The Cabinet also approved a ₹2,761.55-crore grant for solarisation of 2,554 agricultural feeders, UNI reported.
