On 11 May 2026 Union Minister Nitin Gadkari rolled out a first-of-its-kind barrier-less Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) toll plaza at Mundka–Bakkarwala on Urban Extension Road-II in Delhi NCR.

Summary

A first-of-its-kind barrier-less toll plaza using Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling was rolled out by Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari at Mundka–Bakkarwala on Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi NCR on 11 May 2026. The system combines Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras with FASTag-based electronic toll collection, so vehicles pass toll points without stopping. Users with low or invalid FASTag balance get an electronic notice, and non-payment can lead to FASTag blacklisting and curbs on vehicle services through VAHAN. Gadkari said MLFF could cut toll collection cost from about 15% to 3–4%, saving ₹5,000–6,000 crore a year, and save nearly 250 crore litres of fuel and about 81,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
