- In the official SI Prelims 2025 paper (16β21 Jan 2026, 12 shifts), all 120 questions of the GK section came from national/international current affairs β there was not a single question on MP-specific current affairs. So read the national file (15_Current_Affairs_India_World.html) 2β3 times, and read this MP file once, carefully.
- This file has only new events (Oct 2025 β Sep 2026). MP's static GK (history, geography, rivers, district facts) is in 04_Madhya_Pradesh_GK.html.
- Office-holders, amounts and counts are given "as of Sep 2026". Check the news once before the exam (for example, the DGP's tenure runs till 1 Dec 2026).
π 1. Key Office-holders of Madhya Pradesh (Office-holders, as of Sep 2026) (6 min read)

|---|---|---|
| Governor | Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel | Oath on 8 Jul 2021. His 5-year term ended in Jul 2026, but under Article 156(3) he continues in office until a new Governor takes over. The MP High Court dismissed a PIL against this in Sep 2026. |

π 2. Administration & Law: Districts, UCC Bill, Naxal-free MP (6 min read)
(A) Districts & Divisions β 55 districts, 10 divisions (as of Sep 2026)
Earlier there were 52 districts. 3 new districts were formed in 2023. As of Sep 2026, no 56th district has been notified. A commission for the reorganisation of administrative units is considering proposals for new districts.
| New district | Carved out of | Notification | Division |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mauganj (53rd) | Rewa | 13 Aug 2023 | Rewa |
| Maihar | Satna | 5 Oct 2023 | Rewa |
| Pandhurna | Chhindwara | 5 Oct 2023 | Jabalpur |
Note: Maihar and Pandhurna were both notified on the same day (5 Oct 2023), so the 54th/55th numbering is written differently in different places. Most sources (news of the Revenue Department's order, maihar.nic.in) = Pandhurna 54th, Maihar 55th; but pandhurna.nic.in writes Pandhurna as "55th". In the exam, a "carved out of which district" question is safer.
(B) Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill 2026
- 19 Jul 2026: the cabinet approved it (special meeting at Jagdishpur/Islamnagar, near Bhopal). Introduced in the Vidhan Sabha on 20 Jul, passed by voice vote on 21 Jul 2026.
- Provisions: ban on polygamy, nikah halala made an offence, registration of live-in relationships compulsory; Scheduled Tribes (ST) are kept out of it.
- The Governor reserved it for the consideration of the President (Aug 2026). Not in force as of Sep 2026 β the President's assent is pending.
- Only state that has implemented UCC: Uttarakhand (Jan 2025). MP is the 4th state to pass a UCC bill (after Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Assam).
(C) Naxal-free Madhya Pradesh
On 11 Dec 2025, in Balaghat, the last two hardcore Maoists (Deepak and Rohit) surrendered at CRPF camp Korka. After this, CM Mohan Yadav declared MP free of Naxalism.
(D) Other administrative news
