Yoga Mahotsav in Hyderabad sets Asia record with 6,000+ performing Bhujangasana
More than 6,000 participants performed Bhujangasana together at Kanha Shanti Vanam, Hyderabad, entering the Asia Book of Records, at the Yoga Mahotsav marking the 50-day countdown to International Day of Yoga 2026, the Ministry of Ayush said on 2 May 2026.

The Yoga Mahotsav marking the 50-day countdown to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 was organised by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of Ayush, at Kanha Shanti Vanam, Hyderabad, the Ministry said on 2 May 2026. Over 6,000 participants performed Bhujangasana in unison, entering the Asia Book of Records for the largest gathering performing the asana simultaneously, with participants from more than 20 nations. Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Prataprao Jadhav attended; Jadhav highlighted the Yoga 365 campaign, a 100-day free training programme running until 21 June with Yog Mitra certification, and announced that the 25-day countdown Yoga Mahotsav will be held at Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh.
