WPI inflation eases to 0.39% in May 2025
On 16 June 2025 in New Delhi, the Commerce Ministry released data showing annual WPI inflation of 0.39% (provisional) for May 2025.
Summary
The annual rate of inflation based on the All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) was 0.39% (provisional) in May 2025 over May 2024, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on 16 June 2025, down from 0.85% in April. Inflation for primary articles was -2.02% and for fuel and power -2.27%, while manufactured products recorded 2.04%. The WPI food index rose 1.72%. The positive inflation was mainly due to higher prices of manufactured food products, electricity, other manufacturing, chemicals and non-food articles. Month on month, the WPI fell 0.06% from April.
