WPI inflation rises to 1.81% in January 2026

The annual rate of inflation based on the All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) was 1.81% (provisional) for January 2026, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported on 16 February 2026.

The annual rate of inflation based on the All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) was 1.81% (provisional) for January 2026, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry reported on 16 February 2026, up from 0.83% in December 2025 and −0.13% in November 2025. The rise was mainly due to higher prices of basic metals, other manufacturing, non-food articles, food articles and textiles. Inflation in manufactured products was 2.86%, primary articles 2.21% and fuel and power −4.01%. The WPI uses the base year 2011-12.
