WPI inflation rises to 2.13% in February 2026

Annual inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index rose to 2.13% (provisional) in February 2026 from 1.81% in January, the Commerce Ministry said on 16 March 2026.

Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation was 2.13% (provisional) in February 2026, up from 1.81% in January and 0.96% in December 2025, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on 16 March 2026. The rise was mainly due to higher prices of other manufacturing, basic metals, non-food articles, food articles and textiles. Primary articles inflation was 3.27% and manufactured products 2.92%, while fuel and power stayed negative at –3.78%; the WPI Food Index rose 1.85%. Month-on-month, the index rose 0.25% over January. The WPI uses 2011-12 as its base year.
