India's annual inflation based on the all-India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) was 2.37% (provisional) in December 2024, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on 14 January 2025. It was 1.89% in November 2024. The rise was mainly due to higher prices of food articles, manufacture of food products, other manufacturing, textiles and non-food articles. Primary articles inflation was 6.02%, fuel and power was -3.79%, manufactured products 2.14% and the WPI Food Index 8.89%. The base year is 2011-12.
