The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare held a National Multistakeholder Consultation in New Delhi on 6 July 2026, World Zoonoses Day, on the National Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Zoonoses: A Strategic Framework with One Health Approach. Representatives of human health, animal health, wildlife, environment and academia took part. Additional Secretary Rakesh Gupta said the plan will strengthen governance, surveillance, laboratories, preparedness, risk communication and financing, with integrated surveillance through IHIP 2.0, and will help states draft their own action plans. A learning resource package and e-learning modules on zoonotic disease surveillance were also launched.
