This year's theme was 'Protecting Wetlands for our Common Future'. Union Minister Bhupender Yadav said India's tally of Ramsar sites had reached 89. Four publications were released, including the Integrated Management Plan of Parvati Arga Ramsar Site and a 'Factbook of India's 85 Ramsar Sites'. MoS Singh announced a nature-culture tourism corridor between Ayodhya and Devi Patan and said Gonda, with over 100 wetlands, could be recognised as a 'Wetland City'. The four sites added just before the day were Sakkarakottai and Therthangal (Tamil Nadu), Khecheopalri Wetland (Sikkim, its first Ramsar site) and Udhwa Lake (Jharkhand).
