WHO Global TB Report 2025: India's TB incidence falls 21% since 2015

India's tuberculosis incidence fell 21%, from 237 per lakh population in 2015 to 187 per lakh in 2024, nearly double the global decline of 12%, according to the WHO Global TB Report 2025 cited by the Health Ministry on 12 November 2025.

The Health Ministry said the WHO Global TB Report 2025 shows India's TB treatment coverage rose to over 92% in 2024 and the treatment success rate reached 90%, above the global 88%, with over 26.18 lakh patients diagnosed in 2024. Rifampicin susceptibility testing coverage was 92% in India against 83% globally. Under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, started in December 2024, 24.5 lakh patients, including 8.61 lakh asymptomatic cases, were diagnosed, and over ₹4,406 crore has gone to more than 1.37 crore beneficiaries under the Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana since April 2018. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the findings on 13 November.
