The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) under MeitY launched VoicERA, an open-source, end-to-end voice AI stack, on the BHASHINI National Language Infrastructure at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi on 18 February 2026. The launch was led by DIBD CEO Amitabh Nag with EkStep Foundation, in collaboration with COSS, IIIT Bengaluru and AI4Bharat. VoicERA is designed to be open, pluggable, interoperable and deployable on cloud or on premises, extending BHASHINI from translation to real-time speech systems, conversational AI and multilingual telephony for citizen services.
