Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar inaugurated the National Institute of Mental Health Rehabilitation (NIMHR) in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, on 17 January 2025. The institute was set up under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD). Spread over 25 acres and built at an initial project cost of ₹127 crore, it has a Service Block, an Administrative & Academic Block, a Hostel Block and Studio Apartments. The campus also has a Cross Disability Early Intervention Centre, which will soon become operational, and a Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra for distributing aids and appliances to Divyangjan and senior citizens.
