The second edition of Urja Varta, India's premier upstream oil and gas conclave, was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on 17 July 2025, organised by the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas with over 700 participants. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said India has expanded its crude import sources from 27 to 40 countries, and that HELP and amendments to the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Act have opened nearly 1 million sq km of earlier 'No-Go' areas to exploration. Puri released the India Hydrocarbon Outlook 2024-25, the 32nd edition of DGH's flagship report. MoUs were exchanged between bp and ONGC on stratigraphic well studies, and between DGH and NIC for a cloud-based National Data Repository.
