The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said on 3 March 2026 that its mission-mode drive for mandatory biometric updates (MBU) in Aadhaar had saturated more than 1,03,000 schools, helping about 1.2 crore children complete their MBU on school campuses. The drive began in September 2025 after UIDAI integrated with the UDISE+ application of the Department of School Education and Literacy, which shows each child's MBU status. At least 4,000 machines are in use. MBU for children aged 7 to 15 has been free for a year from 1 October 2025.
